I had so much fun taking Kylee, John, and Arlo's family portraits at one of my favorite places to go walking in Port Alberni. I often go for dog walks along the Somass River all the way down to the estuary. It's a relaxing walk and there's typically some sort of wildlife to be seen. Common wild life to see is eagles, deer, and bears on your way to the estuary. But I'm happy to say on this particular evening we didn't encounter any wildlife (even though we could clearly see the many signs that the bears had left behind on the path).
I've been long time friends with Kylee and pretty much can't imagine life without her. I'm not going to lie. I've really been enjoying all of the frequent visits she has been making with her parents since she and John had Arlo. It's been amazing watching her family grow.
The original thought was to photograph Arlo on his first birthday but his birthday isn't until November. There were also thoughts of a cute washtub in an outdoor setting. And November just seemed too far away and much too cold for the washtub idea. So I'm happy we opted for the warm sunshine.
Kylee managed to find a really cute antique copper washtub on VarageSale -a website for buying and selling pre-loved items. So we loaded up a whole wagon with the washtub and photo gear and went for a stroll and take some photos.
We couldn't have asked for a better evening to do photos, a beautiful warm summer evening at golden hour. I'm still in awe of just how nice the evening was. Not to mention the awesome company that came along with it. Here are my favorites from the session.
